In graduate school, Mary became a certified yoga instructor and still randomly gets people together in the summer to run and stretch along the lakefront.
With a diverse background in public relations, journalism, marketing and public affairs, Mary has valuable communications experience in several industries, particularly health care, B2B, technology and government. A love of writing and storytelling fuels her enthusiasm for finding out what makes a client special and sharing it with the right audience. She brings passion to each of her projects, diving into news and research to become a subject matter expert on a variety of topics, before developing and implementing traditional and social media campaigns.
- Helping to strategize and launch a new brand awareness campaign for the Urgent Care Association to reach new audiences through traditional and social media.
- Creating bylined articles and securing key placements for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s Sleep Works for You campaign.
- Composing long-form, technical content such as white papers and byline articles for several B2B clients including Rauland, Weil-McLain and Ecore.
- Researching industry topics and trends to build multichannel campaigns targeting industry, partner and consumer audiences for healthcare clients including HFAP and AAAHC.
Mary has interned with public policy organizations, worked as a writer for marketing and communications firms, was the editor of a public policy website and tackled several other freelance writing jobs across a variety of industries before she joined LCWA.
Mary volunteers with a local literacy nonprofit called Sit Stay Read that pairs young students with Book Buddies and their pets to help encourage an interest in reading. She also volunteers with local animal shelters at events to find pets happy homes.
Mary grew up in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in political science and legal studies, and then earned her master’s degree in journalism from DePaul University.
