I really enjoy working with a diverse array of clients in a fast-paced environment. I get to solve unique problems while continually learning new things every day.
In graduate school, Mary became a certified yoga instructor and still randomly gets people together in the summer to run and stretch along the lakefront.
Mary helps plan, develop and execute public relations initiatives. She writes social media and press materials as well as pitches clients’ stories to garner editorial coverage.
- Securing several bylines on healthcare, B2B and newsworthy consumer topics in both trade and national media.
- Generating extensive coverage of various healthcare campaigns, both consumer- and industry-facing.
- Monitoring local, state and national legislative activity, and implementing awareness campaigns in targeted communities.
Mary has interned with public policy organizations, worked as a writer for marketing and communications firms, was the editor of a public policy website and tackled several other freelance writing jobs across a variety of industries before she joined LCWA.
Mary volunteers with a local literacy nonprofit called Sit Stay Read that pairs young students with Book Buddies and their pets to help encourage an interest in reading. She also volunteers with local animal shelters at events to find pets happy homes.
Mary grew up in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in political science and legal studies, and then earned her master’s degree in journalism from DePaul University.
