SHANNON BURRUSS

Shannon assists account teams in developing and executing media relations programs. She develops and pitches story ideas to both local and national media, resulting in increased exposure for clients.

Job Highlights

  • Building relationships with local magazine editors through desk-side meetings and photo shoots for Tiffany & Co.
  • Generating TV coverage for Oakbrook Center’s ceremony commemorating the 10th anniversary of September 11
  • Workign with the First Alert team to develop two award winning campaigns to promote public awarenes of Fire Prevention Month and new statewide carbon monoxide legislation in California

Before LCWA
Most recently, Shannon interned at a boutique PR firm in Chicago where she worked with clients in the hospitality industry, including Michigan Ave. hotels and well-known local restaurants. Shannon began her LCWA career in our internship program. During college, Shannon worked on her school’s newspaper and was an associate editor for the student magazine.

Involvement
Shannon has won prestigious industry awards, including the "Golden Trumpet" from the Publicity Club of Chicago (PCC), a "Skyline" award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in Chicago, and an "Award of Merit" from the International Association of Business Communicators in Chicago.

Education
Shannon grew up in St. Louis but ventured out of state to join the Hoosiers at Indiana University, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism.

Fun Fact
Shannon lived in Florence, Italy, for five months during her junior year of college, where she discovered her love for cooking after taking a class on food and wine pairings – bon appétit!
